History

GNC47 came off test on 24th March 1934, and was sent by LMS Goods train to the coachbuilder, Park Ward.  They fitted what was described as a Touring Saloon body, although the style seems now to be described as a "Continental" saloon.  Similar in style to GUB34, shown in Tom Clarke's book, it may thus also be similar to GRC56.

First Owner:

J Lipert, 59 Brondesbury Park, London NW6

Second Owner:

RJ Crisp, Kirby Carr Hall, Bungay, Suffolk from approximately April 1951

Third Owner:

D E Cooper, 185 Princes Street, Ipswich, Suffolk from approximately December 1958

The next information is the car, by then carrying the registration number ESV 457, passed an MoT test in Hounslow, Middlesex, on March 8th 1986, with a recorded mileage of 36341.

Soon after, it was advertised for sale in the publication "Exchange and Mart" by a founder of the Real Car Company, and was bought by Mr D H H Dixon, of Chalfont St Peter.

Mr Dixon carried out extensive coachwork and mechanical restoration, and was able to have the car re-united with its original registration number, AXH 800. The first MoT test after the restoration was dated May 16th 1996, at which time the mileage was 36430. Mr Dixon continued to use and maintain the car until 2006, when he advertised the car in the RREC "Advertiser", with a mileage now showing some 40400.

The owner from July 2006 to October 2008 was Kevin Poole, of Draycott, Derby who made small changes to the car, including fitting flashing indicators and a FT37 centre lamp, and replacing the incorrect nickel mascot with a chrome plated one of the correct period. He sold the car to a gentleman in Somerset.
